The two main cities are Thimphu, the capital city, and Paro, the city with the only International Airport in the country. The other important city is Phuentsholing, which is an Indo-Bhutan border town and is one of the entry points to Bhutan by road from India.

Thimphu

Visit the KuenselPhodrang, the gigantic Buddha Dordenma Statue, located atop a hill, offering magnificent view of Thimphu Town; National Memorial Chorten, a Stupa built in 1974 to honour the third King, Jigme DorjiWangchuck; Folk Heritage Museum, traditional home visitfor an insight into Bhutanese lifestyle and artifacts from rural households; Changangkha Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Thimphu and Motithang Takin Preserve, a wildlife reserve centre for Takin, the national animal of Bhutan. In the evening visit,Tashichho Dzong Fortress of the Glorious Religion. This impressive fortress houses ministries, His Majesty’s secretariat, and the central monk body.

Punakha - Wangdue

Visit SangchhenDorjiLhuendrup Nunnery, a temple-cum-nunnery; perched on a ridge overlooking Toebesa.The Punakha and Wangduephodrang valleys, Punakha Suspension Bridge, one of the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan built above the Po Chhu River; Punakha Dzong, one of the most beautiful dzongs of Bhutan located at the confluence of Mo Chhu and Po Chhu Rivers built in 1637, and ‘The Temple of Fertility’ built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley, “DivineMadman”. It is a short hike of around 30 to 45 minutes. Punakha is also one of the few places in Bhutan which offers white water facility (to be booked earlier and additional payment)

Paro

Visit Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), home to gods and monks, located at an altitude of 3,100m in the Upper Paro Valley. As per legend, Guru Rinpoche arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at this monastery. The hike to the Monastery takes about 5 to 6 hours to complete. As the hike to Taktsang Monastery is steep, coupled with vertical stairs, it is not recommended to take the hike with small children and elderly people. On the way back, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred temples of Bhutan.

Explore NEPAL

Nepal is known for its rich culture, traditions and some of the highest mountain peaks in the world, including the Mt. Everest. Kathmandu

Go on a half-day tour of Kathmandu City. Visit the PashupatinathTemple,Patan Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple),and Boudhanath Stupa. You have an option to exploreThamel, a major shopping hub.

Pokhara

Visit Sarangkot, a village just above Pokhara and about 13km away from Lakeside, which is famous for great views of the Himalayas and of the Pokhara Valley, on clear days. It takes a drive of about 45 to 60 minutes from Pokhara to reach the place. Later in the day, visit Vindhyavasini Temple, David’s Fall, and Gupteshwar Mahadev Caves.

Chitwan

Early in the morning, experience the popular Elephant Safari. After breakfast, enjoy Dugout Canoeing, Elephant Breeding Centre/Crocodile Breeding Centre, and a walk through the village. After the walk, you would be taken back to the lodge/resort. In the evening, enjoy the ‘Tharu Tribal Dance’, presented by the local Tharu villagers.

Nagarkot

Nagarkot is about 27km from the national capital, located about 7,000 feet above sea level, Nagarkot is a popular hill station in Nepal that is conveniently accessible. The town is bestowed with splendid views of the Annapurna Range in the northwest and Mount Everest in the northeast;enroute, you can also enjoy sightseeing of Bhaktapur.
